The young men did a great job of fighting through some adversity and some sluggish plays and were able to finish out the game the right way. Very proud of these guys.
The Wolves won the game 12-6. It was a modified game with no special team plays. We sometimes do that so that we can not run the kids into the ground. With both teams having only 16 guys a piece this way allows us to play the game and not put the athletes in a position to hurt themselves.
Our scoring tonight was done by Kaleb Hagge on a pass from QB Kleyton Benedict. This was just an out pattern to Hagge that he caught and took the distance. Our second touchdown was by BJ Rodgers. BJ took a toss around the edge made a cut of field and across the field and away he went. The coaching staff looked at each other and wondered if he was shot out of a cannon. He was able to score by the great blocking up front by Carter Hinkle, Collin Hinkle, Jayce Malone, Beau VanAmerongen, and Kyle Giese. This offensive line is showing some promise and if they keep improving they will be a pretty darn good unit in the future. On Rodgers' TD run he was helped down the field by a nice block from WR Broc Mullin as well.
All in all it was a great effort by the visiting Wolves tonight. They have one more scheduled game against Van Buren which will be home on October 19th at 6:00. If you haven't had a chance to come out and support these fellows please do. I told them, I wrote about them, and talked about them on the radio that they have done an amazing job of working hard and preparing the Varsity that you can tell that they are improving themselves. Very proud of this group of young men.
For those before us, those of us now, and those that follow, WE ARE WMU!
