Hello Wolves Nation,
We are through two games already this season! Where has the time gone? The seasons just seem to speed up every year as I get older. We ran into a very good team on Friday in the Lisbon Lions.
They were a team coming off of a quarterfinal finish last year, 3 state titles in track and are always a perennial powerhouse in class A football. We knew we would have our hands full against them and were talking all week about just doing things correctly, lining up, technique, etc. We struggled with that as well this week.
That had to be one of the most disappointing things to take away from the loss was that we had guys subbing themselves out without communication to the coaches, and not lining up correctly, whether it was on/off the ball, left/right, etc. That was very disappointing. There was some silver lining though, we made Lisbon go to the air early because we were doing a nice job against the run. We will need to sure up the pass defense as we look to Wapello. That's next week though. Offensively we found somethings that worked with Graham Hagge in the back field and Josh Burroughs at QB.
We've struggled so much at the offense that it might be time for some changes, especially with the injuries that we sustained against Lisbon.
Thank you for coming out and supporting us at our first home game. We really enjoyed having the community there, a great student section and just that feeling of community support for our young men no matter the outcome. Thank you so much Wolves Nation.
