Boys golf had their conference tournament yesterday. As a team they finished 2nd. Great finish for them. What is good that I get a feeling from the boys that they are disappointed they got second. They know that they are capable of much more and are competitors. Some of the boys didn't play their best golf and it was tricky conditions yesterday with all golfers having to deal with strong and swirling winds. I know I would struggle with those winds yesterday. But then again I struggle on a calm day as well. Kaleb Hagge was a 4th place finisher with a 79 yesterday. That young fella has had a nice season so far but I have a feeling that he is going to be golfing for a few more weeks this season. Other members of the second place team are Zach Davis, Kash Rossiter, Kolt Rossiter, Sam Jennings and football alum Thayne McElhinney. Congratulations to those boys and now good luck in sectionals. Plan on bringing home another banner.
Tonight is the boys track conference meet at Pekin. They have a chance to get some champions tonight. The weather could be a little iffy tonight. It's at Pekin where the weather is always iffy but with what they are calling for during the weather segments on the news it could get delayed to let the storms go through. I hope all the boys do a nice job tonight and continue to strive for greatness.
We retaught the hang clean this morning. We are better than we were last week but still not where I want to be with the hang clean. Once again our mobility and flexibility are not where it needs to be so that we can lift correctly. It is a work in progress and hopefully we are able to improve a little each day until we are perfect in our lifting and technique.
We had a meeting to see what are numbers are going to be like for next year. We had 34 kids at the meeting. I think we will get 30 of them for sure. I am very pleased with those numbers. It is enough to fill a full JV roster and play a full JV schedule. I think that it is important to play those games because it is building our future. I want to win those games but I also want them to be learning experiences so that our kids learn how to play the game correctly. I know that I am looking forward to working with those young men and end the season in November.
For those before us, those of us now, and those that follow, WE ARE WMU!
