What we do will define not only ourselves, but the community
Wolves Nation,
We are in a weird and trying time in our life. Some of us adults have lived through traumatic times such as September 11th, Desert Storm, Y2K, as well as other diseases. In my time nothing has been as hysteria creating as this.
It is important for all of us to use some critical thinking skills and evaluate the news that you are consuming. I am not a doctor or in the health care profession. I won’t question them, I will try to understand the facts. Just because you read something on the internet doesn’t mean it is real. The Internet, in all its glory, is also a reason we have people buy 49 packages of toilet paper. Mass media, false narratives, and selective reporting are causing issues in our world. If the CDC and the WHO say we should do it, do it. If Karen from a mom blog is saying it, filter that noise and move on. It is imperative we take the correct precautions at this time.
it seems that if we don’t gather in large groups and kind of self-quarantine this will flatten the curve in a couple weeks and we will return to our new normal. I respect this suggestion and will not offer Speed School unless we’re told we can. I urge all of wolves nation to stay active. To our guys that are prepping for the season, get you push ups in. If you have a chance, get some sprints in. I can and will create an at home workout if this is going to be a long term thing.
It is at times like these we really need to practice the self-discipline we’ve built. If the powers to be say social distancing is the right thing to do, we need to do it with fidelity, for as long as necessary. I don’t think that this is a necessarily a “it won’t happen to me or here”, kind of thing. In my opinion whatever we can do to shelf this thing, let’s do it.
But, like most people I am concerned about what this will do for students, teachers, and support staff. One of the most important things we can do at this time is to be kind. Be kind to other people and yourself, read books, exercise, love your family and friends, and find the silver lining of this opportunity. There always is one. Good luck and we will see you on the other side of this whatever it is.
