Happy Friday to everyone in Wolves' Nation. We were lucky yesterday and last night. As there was a surge of severe weather in the area we didn't get hit by any of it. That was some wind that blew all day yesterday and into the night though. Due to the wind and threat of a severe storm the golf meet was canceled. I don't blame them, I wouldn't want to be out on a golf course with the threat of that coming at me. We will have to wait until next week to see how our boys compete in their first dual or triangular match. Track will have two meets next week and it seems like the weather should hold and they should have great nights for some great times.
A couple of things I want to congratulate some of our football players yesterday. We had a mock accident and for the majority of our football players were responsible and respectful of what was going on. On the other hand some of our younger players and their behavior was unacceptable. I was very disappointed in their behavior as well as the behavior of the vast majority of our student body. I don't know why they can't watch it and comprehend the severity of what was happening. They all talked, laughed and didn't pay attention to what was happening. I have never been more disappointed in our student body than I was yesterday. I don't understand where the level of disrespect and apathy comes from. It is something that needs to change around here and in many other places as well.
We had the mock accident because it is prom this weekend. This is one of three weekends that coaches and teachers are the most nervous about. You never want to get "that" phone call or have someone come to your house telling you that they are ineligible or worse. I hope and think that our students, especially the football players will make good decisions and have fun without putting themselves or their team in a position to embarrass themselves, family, program and coaching staff.
I hope everyone has a great weekend. Weather should be nice, get some golf in, yard work done or exercise.
For those before us, those of us now, and those that follow, WE ARE WMU!
