We have received a $2500 grant from Walmart. I'd like to thank Scott and Brenda Wade for notifying me about this grant and also Carmen Benson for helping me fill out the form and making the process easier to complete. With this money we are looking to upgrade the weight room. We are looking to purchase a prowler with is a push/pull sled that we can work on pulling and pushing to increase our speed and power. We are also looking to purchase a glute-ham machine. This will work on our posterior chain and improve our explosion and speed. We are also looking at a software system that will make our weight room experience more efficient and provide much needed data to the coaching staffs. Both boys and girls athletes grades at least 7-12 will be using this program. Athletes will be using their cell phones to complete their workouts. Many collegiate programs have gone to this. We are able to tailor make our workout programs for our athletes. We have the ability to create/find programs for all athletes that are in sports or out of sports. This will allow us to create a better and more efficient experience for our athletes. We won't necessarily be specializing but we will be making workouts that will help our athletes stay primed up during their season and ready to compete at the highest level. We are excited about this improvement for our athletes! Some people say that we might be relying on technology too much here at WMU, I think that the technology is going to allow us to improve in ways that we have never seen before. That being said, we need to have incredible effort and attention to detail while we train. It doesn't matter if you have an old school program or a new program. The iron doesn't lie, you need your sleep, and you need to eat right. Hopefully we are moving in the right direction with this update to our facilities and technology.
Do what is necessary, when it is necessary, for as long as necessary.
For those before us, those of us now, and those that follow, WE ARE WMU!
