We lost in the second round to Lynnville-Sully as their kicker made a 30 yard field goal with under 30 seconds left in the game. It wasn't for lack of effort or anything from our boys. Like I said, so proud of these young men. We had great performances from many of the young men. One I would like to point out is Bryce Robison. He showed some real toughness as he essentially broke his foot but continued to play on it. That is just an example of the determination that all these guys had.
As we look back on the season we need to take in the whole body of work. An undefeated regular season and district Champions. We had the Offensive and Defensive MVP in the district as well as seven other guys earn all district awards. We also had seven young men picked for The Hawkeye team. While I am proud of those guys and those accomplishments I am more proud of the fact that we had the kids vote on some team awards and one of those is a teammate award. Ten of our athletes received votes from their teammates. That speaks volumes to the type of young men we have on this team. Very proud of the way they have developed into a cohesive team.
We took the young men up to the UNI Dome to watch the semifinals and I could tell that we should have been a team up there. If we stay healthy I like our chances.
But now we turn the page and start looking forward to the next season. We are back in the weight room and improving our abilities in the strength, agility, speed, and explosion areas. I look forward to this offseason as there could be some big gains made by our athletes.
Once again I would like to thank you all for your positive support throughout the season. Much of our success comes from the positive support you have given to the guys and to the program. Thank you Wolves Nation for a great season.
For those before us, those of us now, and those that follow, WE ARE WMU!
