Our athletes have had a great offseason and training camp. I think that we are ready. Offensively if we can get everything blocked up front we should be fine in the run game. Max, Matthew, Sam, Warren, and Jordan have done a nice job of jelling together to become a formidable unit. It will be up to our position players such as Darren, Bryce, Garret, Kash and Kolt to use what the line has done. If the ball can come out on time to the correct guy in the passing game watch out. We have a chance to be very explosive on the offensive side of the ball.
Special Teams could just be that this year. We return an All-State punter in Sam Jennings. Our cover team is bigger, faster, and stronger as well. Our return game should be bolstered by Bryce Robison and Zach Davis receiving kicks and punts. I am looking forward to these guys making something happen.
On Defense we look like we should be pretty stout. Sam Jennings was an All-District LB for us last year and is like having another coach on the field. We are starting 9 seniors on the defense with some of them having 3 years varsity experience already. We are physical at the point of attack and in my opinion can cover on the back end as well. We have to make sure we get lined up correctly and carry our fundamentals through in every play.
It is an exciting day here for Wolves Nation! We will be sporting our new away uniforms tonight. I will write up again after the game tonight so check back late or early tomorrow morning. Also listen to coach's corner on KCII about 10:00-10:30 to hear the interview I do with them. Also if you can't make the game tonight tune into The Wolvecast as Kent Baker and Jason Hagge have the call tonight. Whatever you do wear that red, black, and white and support your WMU Wolves!
For those before us, those of us now, and those that follow, WE ARE WMU!
