We are done with our first three days of practice. We can now where shoulder pads and helmets! We are getting closer to being ready to go full pads. That's when the real fun starts. We've had great practices the first three days. The players are working extremely hard and learning very quickly. We have a scrimmage against Columbus Junction a week from tomorrow here in town at 5:30. It will be exciting to hook up against another team and see what we got before we play Iowa Valley at Marengo on the 28th! All maxes and testing is done and will be updated on the WMU Strength and Conditioning website very soon. As a coaching staff we will be making new sheets for the kids to start their in-season lifting next week. We will be going three days a week. We are looking to have the JH kids lift after their practices so that they can lift, maintain and get stronger because they have put in a lot of time this summer.
As we look at the maxes from last summer to this summer we were talking about how excited we were to have one kid bench 265 last year. We thought that was awesome but then we look this year and we have two kids at 275 and over ten more over 200. Our athletes are getting stronger and quicker and more explosive. Stay tuned, there are great things to come.
For those before us, those of us now, and those that follow, WE ARE WMU!
