Welcome back to the Wolves Nation News. It's been a while but I haven't forgotten about the "Nation". A lot of our football athletes have been busy this summer with baseball, camps, and lifting. We started our 5th week of summer workouts today. It was a smaller number than usual but the ones that were there lifted hard and got a good workout in. The younger group is learning to do things the right way while we are continuing to teach them to do things correctly and have some discipline. One thing that I would like to reiterate is that you can't outwork a bad diet. It is incredibly counterproductive to come in, work your tail off, then go home and sit and eat junk. We really need the athletes to start eating lean meats (chicken and fish), vegetables, and fruits with whole grains. Once you start doing that and have the effort that we are giving our athletes will be lean and strong and quick.
Baseball has had a good season so far. They have a winning record and continue to be competitive. They have had a few games where they didn't have their "A" game but they continue to play well and compete. The season will be over before you know it and it will be full speed ahead with football.
We've had some football athletes attend some camps this summer. UNI, Iowa State, and Wisconsin. Hopefully they are gaining skills, and attention to get recruited. Good luck.
As we are turning the calendar to July in the next couple of days a few things I would like to put out there. Football camp is going to be Aug 3-6. We will have a youth camp, JH- high school camp, and I thinking of having a youth coaches clinic as well. If you think there would or wouldn't be a good idea please let me know. It is something I would like to do but don't know if there would be any interest. Actual practice will start on August 10th. We are looking forward to it as a coaching staff and can't wait to get things going again.
That's it for this week's edition of Wolves' Nation News. I'll be back in a week.
For those before us, those of us now, and those that follow, WE ARE WMU!
