On Saturday, 8/26, the Wolves football team did a wonderful job of volunteering in the community. There was a YSF jamboree where about 20 youth football teams, grades 3-6 came to play at our facility. Well over half the team volunteered as referees, concession stand workers, trash men, and hanging out with the young men that were playing. It was so amazing to see how our kids stepped up and gave back to the community that as always supports them whether it is football, basketball, school or any other sport or activity. As a coach it was very rewarding to watch these young guys in a different environment than school or sports and have them excel and flourish. I watched some of them mature and do some things outside of their comfort zone and become better people by the time they left than they were when they showed up. Thank you to: Kaleb Hagge, Daunte Oepping, Noah Freeman, Kyle Giese, Christian Gerot, Justin Webster, Graham Hagge, Jayce Malone, Josh Burroughs, Chance Malone, John Day, Jack Jennings, Andrew Brady, Dawson Bergthold, Daunte's mom an sister Angie and Melina, Mrs. Danelle Freeman and Mrs. Nikki Gerling. Also to assistant coach Alex Klopfenstein for his great help in the concession stand. If I missed someone please let me know I don't want you to not get recognized for your help and service.
As I was telling someone before, I know football isn't all about winning and losing and today proved that. Young men of strong character who learn to live a life of service is much more important that being able to run power right efficiently. Don't get me wrong I love to compete and hate to lose, but today wasn't about winning and losing, it was about service and giving back. And if you're keeping score, our guys won today.
WORK, WANT, WIN!
