Good Sunday night Wolves fans! Great weekend for WMU. We were able to overcome an injury to our quarterback and defeat the Cardinal Comets 44-0. Once again our defense stepped up when put in a few tough positions and pitched another shut out. We were led in tackles by senior Sam Jennings and Jennings also had an interception that he returned for a 52 yard touchdown. Zach Davis also had another interception for us. That is his third of the season.
Darren Hunter stepped in to play quarterback for us. He did a nice job for not taking that many practice reps. To have an athlete that can jump in and help the team win is awesome. Goes to show what kind of young men of character we have on our team. Hunter threw a TD to Garret Baker at the end of the half to get us to 36-0. That is Baker's third TD of the season as well.
We improve to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in district play. We will host Danville on Friday at home. It is a chance to seperate ourselves in district play and be 2-0 as we host Lone Tree the following week. We need to have another great week of preparation for a Danville team that only lost to Pekin by 3 this past week. I think that our athletes will be ready. The weather will be great again this week and we will have a game plan ready for the boys tomorrow. Thanks to those that came down and supported our team on Friday. It means a lot to the guys to have such positive support from friends, family members and the community.
For those before us, those of us now, and those that follow, WE ARE WMU!
