Welcome Wolves Nation to the new update. Dreary, humid, and rainy day today. But on the positive side it is a Friday. A football Friday.
Boys track had their conference meet last night. We finished 5th as a team. Football alum Kyle Davis had the best showing of the football boys with a 3rd place in the shot put. If we are going to send some teams to Des Moines we are going to need to step up our effort and work hard this week.
Boys golf is off until Thursday of next week when they travel to New London for Sectionals. I look for us to move onto the next round and compete very well.
Finished our lifting reteach this week with the dead lift. Once again we are lacking the mobility and flexibility to do things the right way. I will say that we have been doing some hip mobility work and we changed up our dynamic warm up to incorporate more movement and hip work. In one week we have seen some improvement. What we need to battle now is the stubborn athletes that think they are above having to do things the right way. As a coach there are few reasons to have you do things our way. First and foremost is athlete safety. They way we are teaching lifts is the correct way for you to lift and stay away from injuring yourself. Second reason is when you do lifts the correct way you are activating the correct muscles, your power muscles and you will see improvements and gains like crazy. Those young guys that still have the mentality that you need to move as much iron as possible and not worry about form are going to have a conversation with me or other members of the the coaching staff.
Not much else going on around here. Don't forget that it is Mother's Day this weekend. I know that I wouldn't be who I am, or accomplished what I have done in my life with out the support of my mom. Don't forget to call and talk to your mom this weekend. Chances are she's made sacrifices you don't know about and it is the least you can do to call and talk to her.
For those before us, those of us now, and those that follow, WE ARE WMU!
