Happy Wednesday! Today is one of my top 10 favorite days of the year. Last day of school. I enjoy teaching but there is something about the last day that makes me excited. Maybe that means we are just that much closer to the football season. I can't quite put my finger on it....
Baseball started their season last night. They picked up a huge win over the Columbus Junction Wildcats last night. They won 17-3 in 5 innings. Excellent way to start the year. Some of our football athletes had a big night for the baseball Wolves. Sam Jennings had a big night at the plate going 4-5 with a triple. Sophomore Kleyton Benedict went 2-2 with 2 RBI's for the Wolves. Matthew Niebuhr went big fly for the Wolves . Football alum Thayne McElhinney went 2-4 with a double and an RBI. Kolt Rossiter added an RBI for the Wolves as well. The baseball team will be in action again on Thursday at home vs the Lone Tree Lions. Lone Tree had a solid team last year and this should be a good measuring stick for the team early in the year.
We are done lifting for the week. The boys will have the rest of the week and the weekend off. We will start June 1st, Monday at 7:00 A.M. Remember that doors will be locked at 7:00 and that all late lifters will not be admitted after that time. We are trying to instill some discipline and sacrifice for our young men. The coaching staff is excited to get this program going. As a reminder we will be lifting Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings. I am looking forward to the progress we are going to make. If you are unable to make the baseball games visit http://www.thewolvecast.com/ to listen. I will be calling some of the games on line. I am looking forward to it. The game on Thursday is going to be online but I'm not calling it. The first baseball game I am calling is Tuesday, June 9th. Tune in.
Enjoy your day, I know I will.
For those before us, those of us now, and those that follow, WE ARE WMU!
