Good Thursday morning.
Here at Winfield we had an assembly for the senior to see who won which scholarships. Two football alumni did a very nice job today. Kerry Davis and Kyle Davis both earned many awards and deservedly so. Both of them are very nice young men that have a plan and will work hard to achieve success. I wish Kerry good luck going to SCC and studying Ag. He is and will be a great farmer. ANF! Kyle is headed to William Penn University to play football and pursue his academics. I wish him nothing but success on and off the field.
To our other seniors good luck and thank you for what you have done for our program. Some of you have contributed a lot on the field, in the weight room, and in the classroom. For those of you that feel like you didn't get the most out of what you wanted in high school the good thing is you have another chance to prove to people that you can work hard and be a success. I would like to wish Keaton Pallister, Jordan Bencze, Kerry Davis, Kyle Davis, Thayne McElhinney, Lake Carlson, Riley Heinzel, and Colton Hinkle good luck in the future.
A special shout out to Thayne McElhinney and Lake Carlson as they continue their education and playing at Simpson College. Go Storm!
Today is district track for our boys. It is not idea conditions to run in but everyone is dealing with it just not our teams. Don't use it as an excuse. Challenge yourself to run your best race. You might as well leave it all on the track because it could be your last race. I was talking to Kyle last night and he said that he has a decent chance of making it in both the shot put and discus. Good luck to him and all the other participants this evening. Make WMU proud with the way you compete.
Tomorrow is district golf. Hopefully the boys will take the crown. We have the talent, but it is golf. Anything can happen and that being said I hope our boys come out on top. Good luck to Kaleb Hagge, Sam Jennings, Thayne McElhinney, Kolt Rossiter, Kash Rossiter, and Zach Davis. You've had a lot of success in the past, but that won't make shots tomorrow. Find your swing and make good things happen.
Check back tomorrow for the last edition of the week. Happy Thursday!
For those before us, those of us now, and those that follow, WE ARE WMU!
