Happy Football Friday! Welcome back to the football blog. I know we aren't in season but we never stop thinking about football. With the NFL draft starting last night it should get everyone excited about football starting again. Iowa's own Brandon Scherff was drafted 5th overall by the Redskin's. It is exciting that one of the U of I's best was recognized and moved on to the highest level of competition. It goes to show that small town Iowa boy's can do some great things with hard work and dedication. Something for our boy's to aspire to be.
Track meet went well for the boys last night. They were fourth as a team. In the field events two of our football alums had good nights. Kyle Davis won the shot put and Colton Hinkle won 3rd in the discus. Current member of the football team Warren Krieger-Coble set a Personal Record in the shot put. The WMU 4 x 100 team won 3rd place. Members of the football team on that are Zach Davis, Garret Baker, and Bryce Robison. The WMU 4 x 200 team won 3rd place as well. Garret and Bryce were on that team as well. WMU District Medley team won 1st place. Garret and Bryce are members of that team. Talking to the coaching staff they feel like they have a chance to get a few events to state. The distance runners and some relays have a chance. Hopefully they have some success and get down to the blue track.
Golf has conference meet next week. The boys are looking to get some practice rounds in this weekend and prepare to win a title. They have had a couple of successful years and I hope that they continue their success.
As we finish up the week I would like to remind everyone that this is a site for me to promote the football players and the football program. I am excited for all the athletes and members of all the teams to have success. I report on the athletes that have committed themselves to football. It is nothing against other athletes or students. With that being said, have a great weekend and meet back here on Monday.
For those before us, those of us now, and those that follow, WE ARE WMU!
