Good Monday morning! We are coming to the end of the seniors this week. They have class until Wednesday and then graduation is on Sunday. I wish them all good luck. I want to say thanks to the guys that have been out for football. Whether it was for one year or for all four years. What the graduating seniors did to help this program was awesome. They've helped lay a foundation for what we need to be as a program. We can now build on what they have left as a legacy.
There is no golf or track today. Both teams are off until the end of the week. It is crunch time now. District track is on Thursday. Win the event and your on to the blue. If you don't win you need to make sure you push for a great time because they are taking the top times after district winners. District golf is on Friday. Boys play down at New London. I look for a couple of guys to move on as individuals as well as I expect the team to move on as well.
As we reach the end of a school year and say goodbye to our seniors I do want to talk about legacy. We had a speaker come to the school about 5 years ago. His name is Kent Stock and he was the inspiration for the movie and books "The Final Season" about baseball in small town Iowa. His main idea was how do you want to be remembered. What will people think of you when you've been gone for a few years. Next year how will we talk about these seniors? How will we talk about the current players. Are they going to be a group that had potential or are they going to be the group that has success. The juniors now, seniors to be, have always been an interesting group. There are a lot of boys in that grade and they could all potentially bring something to contribute on the football team. The question is will they turn potential into a reality? How hard do they want to work? How do they want to be remembered?
For those before us, those of us now, and those that follow, WE ARE WMU!
