Happy Wednesday! We are half way through a busy week here for our athletes. Our we have had some great success on our track team last night and they have a busy week going Thursday, Friday and coming back on Monday again for a meet. Golfers are taking to the links tonight vs L-M. They start at 3:00 and look to continue their dominance on the course in dual meets.
Last night in the New London track meet that is held at Mt. Pleasant we had some good things happen. Bryce Robison won 3rd place in the long jump. Football alum Kyle Davis was 3rd in the discus and first in the shot put. Nice job big guy! Garret Baker and Robison were two important parts of a 4x200 team that took the title last night. Darren Hunter was an important part of the Distance Medley team that earned third place. Zach Davis, Baker, and Robison were 3 of the 4 that took the title in the 4x100 relay winning by almost two seconds. Great effort out of our boys who took second place in the meet. I know they were looking for first place and a team title but they had some success and they are improving from the beginning of the year and from last year. Coach Doerring and Klopfenstein have done a nice job of getting these boys to perform on the oval and I wish them and the football boys a lot of luck as the season comes to a close.
As stated earlier golf plays again tonight vs Louisa Muscatine. Our boys have done a nice job this year and as I am looking out my window it looks like a perfect day to swing the wrenches and chase that little white ball around. Good luck to them and hopefully the medalist award stays in town. I know I'd like to see Kaleb Hagge score something in the red tonight.
As a reminder we have max week this week. When we are completed on Thursday afternoon I will post a link on here that will take you to our strength and conditioning webpage that will have the results of the workouts. I think that these kids will be pleased and some will be disappointed. I know I have had a level of satisfaction with some of them and others a level of disappointment. Like I stated before, the iron never lies. After this max out period we need some of our kids to take a good hard look at themselves and decide if they are really doing what they need to in order to get better by giving full effort and work or if they are just showing up and going through the motions. The old saying keeps running through my head, "it isn't the hours you put in, it's what you put in the hours that count". Couldn't agree with that more right now. Enjoy your Wednesday, get outside, do something fun. Take your dog for walk. Enjoy it. A reminder that the high school track is available to walkers and joggers as long as you don't bring a stroller on the track. And Please remember to stay off the football field. We are growing grass out there right now and need the least amount of traffic on it. Check back tomorrow for more news and updates from your WMU football program.
For those before us, those of us now, and those that follow, WE ARE WMU!
